Chorale Choir (Grades Ages 8-11)

Intermediate level choir.

Chorale Choir Director:     Nathan Bigler, Janni Richards   

Mondays   4:15 - 5:30 PM, USU Fine Arts Center Room 220

Director may choose to move students from Chorale to Cantate as the season starts and voices are heard.  If a students is moved parents will be notified.

Classes begin on Monday, September 11.

This includes a block of Orff teaching and improvisation time, which incorporates instruments, solfege, and movement.              

Chorale Staff

Claudia Bigler is recently retired from 24 years of directing choral music at Box Elder High School, in Brigham City, Utah.  Prior to her tenure at Box Elder, she taught in the Carbon School District in Southeastern Utah for six years.   She also directed a 100 voice children’s choir, The Music Company, in Brigham City for 6 years, before moving to Price.   She has taught Middle School, Junior High School, and High School, and has served as a music consultant/teacher for the Northern Utah Home School Association, working with elementary students.  She has loved teaching every age.

 In 2012, Ms. Bigler was recognized with the Superior Accomplishment Award, from UMEA.  She is a published composer, with several pieces in print.   In the 2014-15 school year, Mrs. Bigler was named Outstanding Music Educator by the Utah Music Educator's Association.  She was also given the Outstanding Music Educator Award from the Utah High School Activities Association, and went on to receive the same award for Section 7, which includes California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, and Hawaii

Nathan Bigler has a degree in music from BYU, and a Masters Degree in Music Theory and Composition from Northern Arizona University.  He sang with BYU Men's Chorus, BYU Concert Choir, and the Shrine of the Ages choir at NAU.   Nathan has taught high school choir in Arizona, and also served as adjunct faculty at Arizona Western College in Yuma.  He is currently a co-director of North Front Sound, a male Barbershop chorus in Davis County.  

Janni Richards is a music teacher with multiple degrees from Utah State University. As a Brigham City native, she is very familiar with the Cache Children’s choir and the surrounding communities. Janni was the director for the Wasatch Children and Youth choirs at the Brigham City Fine Arts Center for 8 years. She spent 2 years teaching and helping to develop the music curriculum at Promontory School of Expeditionary Learning. Janni has spent the last 2 years as a director of the Terre Haute Children’s Choir at Indiana State University. Much of her artistic flair comes from her years under the tutelage of Milton C. Anderson, Music director for The Young Americans, Merrilee Webb, and Larry Boye, vocal specialist for EPCOT. She has been an artistic musical director for musicals at Heritage Community Theater in Perry, Utah and also enjoys performing with various local groups. Janni has a passion for helping young singers find their strength in music. She enjoys spending time with her husband Bryan and their 5 kids in her spare time.
